Opulence has been the signature of Valentino style since Valentino Garavani opened his first salon in the Via Condotti in Rome in 1960.

His early designs were founded in the haute couture tradition of quality and luxury -- plus a bit of extravagance. And they soon came to define a new jet-set lifestyle, characterized by his sexy, beautiful and feminine creations.

In the 1960s, when psychedelic colors were coming into vogue, Valentino captivated the world by launching a "no color" collection. An entire line comprised solely of white, cream, chalk, sand, ecru and beige. Interestingly, however, red has emerged as his signature color. His unique shade being a combination of crimson and bright orange overtones.

His timeless style has been one of the driving forces that has helped to equate the "Made in Italy" label with luxury goods of unsurpassed quality.

For over four decades the world's most glamorous women have worn Valentino. The list includes everyone from fashion icons like Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Princess Grace of Monaco, Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn to current celebrities like Halle Berry, Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston.
