Originally from the Philippines, Rafe (pronounced "RAH-fee") Totengco came to New York City to pursue his dream of a career in fashion. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Rafe used his unique design sensibility to produce a line of belts and watchbands for a Soho boutique -and they sold out instantly. The boutique immediately asked for a line of handbags.

In 1995, the first collection of Rafe New York handbags debuted at Bergdorf Goodman - and since then, Rafe has become one of the most acclaimed of a new generation of New York designers. His bags achieve both uptown sophistication and downtown edge - a relaxed chic that resonates with a diverse, modern and stylish clientele.
